| Bio |
Radoslaw Piesiewicz received his MSEE in the area of microwave engineering and optical communications with golden badge distinction from the Technical University of Gdansk, Poland in 2002 and a Dr.-Ing. (PhD) degree in ultra-broadband communication systems from the Technical University of Braunschweig, Germany in 2008. Before joining CREATE-NET he has worked in the Terahertz Communications Lab and in the Institute for Communications Technology, Mobile Radio Systems Department at the Technical University of Braunschweig. Earlier, he was with Fraunhofer IZM, Advanced Systems Engineering, Paderborn, Germany. He has focused on the following research areas: THz communication systems; system design and architecture, channel characterisation and wave propagation of wireless multi-gigabit communication systems beyond 100 GHz; modelling, simulation, measurements and planning of UWB, 60 GHz and Hybrid networks. Radoslaw Piesiewicz participated on different levels (co-ordination, implementation and conceptual activities) in different national and international projects: Data Communication and Localisation (project with Airbus GmbH, UWB radio technology), Air Gate (BMBF project, setting up test-bed for Galileo pseudolites for navigation in aerospace applications, coverage and interference prediction, hardware configuration), QStream (EU Medea+ 2A106 project; architecture design, modelling and simulations for a 60 GHz system with beam switched antennas for multi-gigabit wireless data transmission with QoS), Taifun (TCL project; strategies and technologies for THz systems). As technical expert he serves as an evaluator in the IST and ICT programmes (FP6 Call 6 and FP7 Call 1). He has 39 papers including 10 journal contributions.
