CREATE-NET is to coordinate an important EU project in the Internet of Things domain

iCore (Internet Connected Objects for Reconfigurable Ecosystems), a 14 million Euro EU FP7 project which aims to empower the Internet of Things through virtual objects and cognitive technologies, will officially start on the 1st of October and a joint kickoff meeting with another FP7 project called BUTLER (uBiquitous, secUre inTernet-of‐things with Location and contEx‐awaReness) will take place on 5-7October 2011.

The launch of these projects will take place at the International Conference Centre in Bremen, Germany, involving a total of approximately 35 partners from both projects in an effort to find collaboration opportunities and synergies.

CREATE-NET will be working with a Consortium of 19 Partners, including amongst others 12 industry organisations investing in IoT and coming from a wide variety of Countries including also China and Japan.

iCore will realise the principle that any real objects and any digital objects, which are available, accessible, observable or controllable, can have a virtual representation in the Internet of Things (IoT) and be used beyond the scope for which they were originally deployed.

The project will therefore explore new ways of connecting physical objects and their virtual representations, and its expected impact is that it shall create new opportunities for innovative IoT services which will benefit businesses and consumers alike.
