Interstress project has been selected as one of the 50 projects to be shown at the Innovation convention 2011.

“This is an important result we are really proud of” said Oscar Mayora, responsible for CREATE-NET for the Interstress project.

The event, organized by European Commission, will take place in Brussels on 5-6 December 2011 and will be opened by President Barroso, one year after the adoption of the Innovation Union flagship initiative, the EU's roadmap to turn Europe into a more innovation-friendly and competitive continent.

Nowadays many people are suffering from stress, a pathology which increases the risk of developing diseases and may trigger or worsen such illness as depression, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

The project aims at designing, developing and testing ICT-based solution for the assessment and treatment of stress. In order to achieve this objective, the CREATE-NET research center is coordinating one of the work packages, called "Input/output interface" that includes two parts: clinician content management system and mobile interface for smartphones:

- Clinician interface enables the clinicians to control the INTERSTRESS system through the definition of relevant information that the clinician requires, in addition to controlling the immersive 3D environment during patient therapy.

- Patient interface is available on the patient’s mobile device (e.g. smartphone) for partially extending the therapeutic facilities of the 3D virtual reality environment  and delivering counter-stress exercises which facilitate relaxation and teach the patient how to control his/her psychological state.

“ Interstress – continued doctor Mayora – improves links and interaction between patients and doctors, facilitating more active participation of patients in the care process in order to increase their quality of life.
