Iacopo Carreras was born in Pisa, Italy. He received the laurea degree (summa cum laude) in Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Pisa, Italy, in 2001, with a thesis on Voice over IP in Wireless LAN. In 2000-2001 he was a visiting student at Technische Universitat Berlin. In year 2001-2003 he was employed in Netikos s.p.a, an international company working in the area of Information Technology. In year 2003 he joined CREATE-NET Research Consortium, becoming part of the Pervasive group. Iacopo Carreras received his M.Sc degree (summa cum laude) in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Pisa, Italy, in 2001. He received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa, Italy, in 2007. From 2000 to 2001, he worked at Telecommunications Networks Group, Berlin University of Technology. From 2001 to 2003 he worked as software engineer at Netikos (Telecom Italia Group). In 2003, Dr. Carreras joined the Pervasive Computing and Communications Environment group at CREATE-NET research center. Dr. Carreras co-authored several peer reviewed research papers in international conferences and journals. He served as chair and PC member for the MSAN and BIONETICS conferences, and as a peer reviewer for international conferences and journals. He is participating to several international European research projects. He is a member of IEEE, IEEE Computer Society, and IEEE Computational Intelligence Society.
