Activities

Software Engineering for Networking Systems

The group manages the design, engineering and implementation   of advanced network control and management systems, leveraging the software development competencies and the knowledge of the networks architectures and protocols.
The main expertise areas are related to GMPLS control planes for the optical networks and to distributed
monitoring systems for multi-hop wireless networks.

 Network Virtualization & Embedded Systems

The group focuses on virtualization of network infrastructures,   by contributing at both architectural and protocol level. The group is working on different networking technologies: from Planet-Labdistributed testbed to multi-hop wireless networks, up to Ethernet-based networks exploiting the emerging Software-Defined Networking paradigm of OpenFlow.
Group activities also involve the design and development of software/protocols/libraries/operating systems for embedded devices employed in research projects applied to smart mobility and smart energy systems.
