is a senior researcher at the
Wearable Computing Laboratory of ETH Zurich, Switzerland. Within
national and European research projects he is engaged in personal health
systems. He received the diploma in natural science informatics
Dipl.-Inform. (MSc) from the University of Bielefeld (Germany) in 2001
and the doctor of engineering sciences Dr.-Ing. (PhD) in 2006. In his
PhD time, his research was focused on medical data mining, machine
learning and statistical modeling in close cooperation with a heart
institute. He developed a data mart system in order to discover patterns
of heart disease, patient’s response to treatment and real-time risk
stratification. |

is a researcher at CREATE-NET. He received his PhD from Waterford Institute of Technology (Ireland) in 2008. The focus of his work is on human behaviour monitoring and analysis, with a particular application on monitoring patients with mental disorders. He is engaged in a number of European and Italian projects that deal with this topic and also co-supervision of PhD students. He is actively involved with Pervasive Health conference, serving in the capacity of vice-chair and is a reviewer for a number of journals in the field. |

is Associate Professor of General Psychology and Communication Psychology at the Catholic University of Milan, Italy; Director of the Interactive Communication and Ergonomics of NEw Technologies - ICE-NET - Lab. at the Catholic University of Milan, Italy, and Head Researcher of the Applied Technology for Neuro-Psychology Laboratory - ATN-P Lab., Istituto Auxologico Italiano, Verbania Italy. Scientific coordinator of the European funded project "Interstress - Interreality in the management of psychological stress", according to the scientific databases ISI Web of Science, PubMed/Medline and PsycInfo Riva is the scholar who authored the highest number of peer-reviewed scientific publications in the fields of "Virtual Reality" in the world (as on January 2010). He is also 2nd worldwide in the fields of "Telepresence" and "Cybertherapy". These papers range from specialistic journals such as "Presence: Teleoperators and Virtual Reality" (MIT Press) to general scientific journals such as "Science" (AAAS). |

is a professor at
the IT University of Copenhagen
(ITU) and the Research Director for the Global Interaction Research
Initiative. Prior to this position, he was an associate professor at the
Computer Science Department, University of Aarhus and the co- founder
and first manager of the Danish Centre for Pervasive Healthcare. His
research interests are Pervasive Computer Systems, Object Oriented
Software Architecture, Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW); and
Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). The main application area of this
research is within healthcare, especially Pervasive Healthcare. |
